This year marks Make Music Day’s forth celebration in Boston. In the past, Make Music Boston’s outdoor music festival has featured numerous locations, among them the Boston Common, the Lawn on D, the Rose Kennedy Greenway, Museum of Fine Arts, CityPOP Egleston, and the Faneuil Hall Marketplace. In our first three years, the festival has grown from 100 to 175 artists and ensembles performing music of all genres throughout the day. We’ve showcased Too Many Trombones, an ensemble of 30 trombonists premiering music composed by Norman Bolter, and teamed with Girls Rock Boston for a mass guitar jam session.
Get involved for the 2017 festival! It is open to anyone who would like to participate – any genre, any level. From indie bands to Latin ensembles to hip-hop artists, all music will be celebrated and given platforms across the City of Boston. We will be joining over 730 cities around the world to celebrate Make Music Day – so help us make this day unforgettable as we kick off summer with music for all to enjoy!
