The 2017 summer solstice marks Make Music Day’s fourth celebration in Boston. Make Music Boston 2017 will feature live, free performances all across the city of Boston on June 21st, featuring musicians of all stripes in venues including the Boston Common, the Lawn on D, the Rose Kennedy Greenway, Museum of Fine Arts, CityPOP Egleston, and the Faneuil Hall Marketplace. In our first three years, the festival grew from 100 to 175 artists and ensembles performing music of all genres throughout the day. We’ve showcased Too Many Trombones, an ensemble of 30 trombonists premiering music composed by Norman Bolter, and teamed with Girls Rock Boston for a mass guitar jam session.
Get involved for the 2017 festival! It is open to anyone who would like to participate – any genre, any level. From indie bands to Latin ensembles to hip-hop artists, all music will be celebrated and given platforms across the City of Boston. We will be joining over 730 cities around the world to celebrate Make Music Day – so help us make this day unforgettable as we kick off summer with music for all to enjoy!
